Experiencing excessive shedding, breakage, thinning, scalp irritation, or flaking? A trichology assessment takes a closer look at your hair and scalp health to help you better understand your concerns and determine appropriate next steps.
Every assessment begins with understanding your unique hair and scalp history. We’ll discuss your concerns, hair-care practices, lifestyle and other factors that may be contributing to changes in your hair or scalp before taking a closer look.
Your hair and scalp will be visually examined, paying close attention to the areas you’re concerned about.
A trichoscope is a high-powered magnification tool that allows us to examine the scalp, follicles and hair shafts at a level that can’t be seen with the naked eye. You’ll also have an opportunity to view the images as we discuss what we’re observing.
We’ll discuss your current hair-care practices, protective styling, chemical and heat use, shedding patterns, nutrition, stress, medications and other relevant factors.
I’ll explain my observations and help you better understand what we’re seeing. Because many different factors can contribute to similar hair and scalp changes, an assessment is about gathering information—not simply attaching a diagnosis to what we see.
Based on the assessment, you’ll receive recommendations for appropriate hair and scalp-care practices and supportive services when applicable.
An assessment may be helpful if you’re experiencing:
Trichology can provide valuable insight into the condition of your hair and scalp, but it does not replace medical care.
As a Certified Trichologist, I do not diagnose medical conditions. If your assessment reveals findings or symptoms that warrant medical evaluation, I may recommend that you consult a dermatologist or other qualified healthcare professional for diagnosis and treatment.
Based on your assessment, supportive scalp-care services may be recommended when appropriate.
A 10-minute scalp-care add-on using a high-frequency comb to complement your scalp-care routine.
Understanding what’s happening with your hair starts at the root.
